CBS News: Plus size fashion market

Last night CBS news aired a segment on the shift of the plus size clothing market.  In the last few months several major retailers have stopped carrying or reduced plus size clothing lines in their stores.  This has left the plus size consumer with fewer for plus size clothing options in their local areas.  

This segment discusses how now more than ever before, on-line plus size clothing retailers have become important to the plus size consumer.  The benefit to the customer is that the plus size clothes offered are specifically designed for the plus size woman's figure, not as an after thought!

This morning on NBC's Today Show there was a great segment about dressing to flatter your figure! This is one of my personal favorite subjects because so many plus size women hide the parts they should accentuate, often creating the illusion of being larger then they are. 

The plus size model was wearing an Avenue by Jessica London smocked blouse and Jessica London plus size pencil skirt! It is always exciting for us when plus size clothing is featured as part of a fashion segment as we are a significant percentage of the American consumer.

A: I just completed an plus size online swimwear fashion show for OneStopPlus.com.  It's not only a first for our company, it is a web first.  The idea that woman can see swimwear in a 3-dimensional format is very exciting as both functional shopping assistance and as inspiration, particularly in the plus-size market.

Q: What is on your wish list for the plus size fashion market?

A: I would love for plus size fashion to be considered as mainstream as missy fashion.  We have the majority of women and now we have great designs, so it's time.

Q: What or who inspires you?

A: Magazines and movies always do, but also iconic women who literally changee the way women feel and dress.  Jackie O, Audrey Hepburn and others have done it in the past, and I really think Michelle Obama is now having an extraordinary impact on proving that style doesn't have a specific price tag.

Q: What is your favorite quote?

A: "It's good to be king" by Mel Brooks.

Pop it with colorful bag and shoes to giving it a trendy look. Wear black shoes and simple jewelry for the classic look.  For a knockout look, wear gold shoes and chunky gold jewelry.  The focus will always be on the accessories that your friends won't even realize that it is the same dress!
